Test of Time Awards

The CCC 2026 Test of Time Award was presented to Venkat Guruswami, Chris Umans, and Salil Vadhan for their paper, “Unbalanced Expanders and Randomness Extractors from Parvaresh–Vardy Codes,” presented at CCC 2007. The paper gave a self-contained construction of a seeded randomness extractor with near-optimal parameters. It has had a lasting impact on the study of pseudorandomness, inspiring numerous subsequent works that have applied, refined, and extended its ideas.
